Located in “the other downtown Larkspur,” my new boutique consignment store is a bit different; a small-part costume shop, with vintage feather boas and silver cigarette boxes to that very cool little store that has Dries Van Noten and Moth sweaters---bowling shirts and tilt hats from the forties.
Yes, you might find that lightly-used and coveted Chanel 2.55 one day, and broken in two-tone Tony Lamas (your size!) the next—as I was inspired to create the store I would love to discover; some vintage, some contemporary---and all beautiful, quirky, one-of-a-kind and all elegant.
whatpoppywants is located at 1106 Magnolia Avenue, next to Item shoes on one side and Masonic temple, and Folio on the other. Across the street is Swiss Garage and kitty-corner to Jim Corbett’s.
We take consignment everyday but Tuesdays, one piece or your entire closet (well, maybe). Open at a civil 12:00 pm, we’re there till 5:30 or so. Whatpoppywants will happily fulfill longtime desires for 50’s Lilli Ann cashmere coats or that Prada gown you saw in Harper’s. Leopard print and feathers, Manolos and biker jackets we have a little bit of everything and stock is constantly changing.
Stop by and browse, say hello to owner, Valerie, her perfect Labrador-aussie mix; Poppy (yep, we named the store for him) and her gorgeous daughter, Marissa. We’ll help you find that magical piece that lights you up, turns you into a pirate or a supermodel or just an amazingly well-dressed (and not so tapped out) you.
